Warrington Diplomat Leadership Ventures
What are Leadership Ventures?
Leadership ventures are unique out-of-the-classroom experiences to help connect business students while teaching leadership, teamwork, and communication skills in a hands-on way, out of the normal environment. Leadership Ventures allow students to meet their peers, work in a group, and have fun. New leadership ventures are introduced each year, while still keeping some of the favorites. Any Warrington College of Business undergraduate student is eligible to apply.
This Leadership Venture puts Warrington Students on the St. Augustine open water with an introduction to sailing and sailboat racing. Participants will be divided among the racing boats and learn to work as a team, rotating through the various responsibilities, effectively communicating to with the race against the other teams. The participants will choose their helmsperson and will be given instructions by the instructor. The race will give the participants a chance to practice their skills and work together to cross the finish line first. The Sailing Regatta Leadership Venture was the first leadership venture hosted by the Warrington Diplomats and continues to be a staple each fall.
The Cake Boss Leadership Venture provides an opportunity for students to learn the art of cake decorating, how to work with challenging expectations, and present their finished product to their client. Students will be divided into teams and tasked with creating cakes for a sweet sixteen, anniversary, child’s birthday party, and more. The leadership venture will focus on building teamwork and communication skills, networking with fellow business students, improving public speaking competencies. This Leadership Venture will be held at the Fat Tuscan Café in Gainesville.

Within each team, roles are divided between the cooking of the food, development of a restaurant name and concept, and pitch to the panel of judges. Partnering with local restaurant, Fat Tuscan, teams will have the ability to develop their teamwork, communication, and active listening skills while making new friends and learning about different restaurants in the local community.
