Warrington Diplomats
Who Are the Diplomats?
The Diplomats are the official student ambassadors of the Warrington College of Business Administration. This organization is comprised of highly committed and motivated business students selected through a competitive application process.
As the College's official ambassadors, the Diplomats provide numerous services to help business students get the most out of their university experience. Through collaborations with the School of Business Advising office and the Career and Leadership Programs office, the Diplomats host events targeted at helping students develop academically and professionally. Providing assistance through mock interviews, resume critiques, and tours are just some of the services the Diplomats offer.
Diplomat Events
-
Ace the Showcase
Ace the Showcase is one of the most popular events held by any student organization. Each fall and spring, the Career Resource Center hosts Career Showcase, a career expo in which over 300 employers from around the country come to UF to recruit talented students as interns and full-time employees. To help prepare business students for this event the Diplomats conduct Ace the Showcase. At Ace the Showcase, Diplomats critique resumes, conduct mock interviews, and help students develop their one-minute career commercial. Ace the Showcase is open to all business students and is held once each fall and spring semester. -
Career Quest
Each fall, the Diplomats invite professors from all six School of Business majors to provide students with essential information about each of the majors. Such information may include: coursework, career opportunities, internships specific to that major, minors that complement the major, and more. This event is targeted toward underclassmen that have yet to enter their major coursework. -
Etiquette Made Easy
Each spring, the Diplomats bring in representatives from a consulting firm to educate business students on proper professional etiquette. Topics included in this event include: business dinners, on-the-job etiquette, company tailgates, and more. Best of all, students are given the opportunity to ask questions throughout the event, and nothing is off limits. This event is open to all business students. -
FLA Event
Every year the Warrington College of Business Administration selects the top 100 sophomores to participate in the Florida Leadership Academy (FLA). This is a competitive process whereby students must submit a resume, statement of purpose, letters of recommendation, and possible interview. To help prepare students for this process, the Diplomats invite qualifying freshmen to have their resumes critiqued, conduct mock interviews, and have their statement of purpose reviewed. Additionally, many Diplomats were members of FLA and are available to answer any questions about the program. -
Honors Thesis Luncheon
This lunch is for business students in their Junior year who qualify to write an honors thesis. During the lunch, a professor will speak who has sponsored a student thesis in the past. After hearing the professor's insights, a panel of students who have written a thesis will discuss their experience and be available to answer any questions. This event is by invitation only. -
Internship Panel
Looking for an internship? At the Internship Panel the Diplomats bring in recruiters from five companies to discuss their internship programs. Additionally, UF students who have successfully completed the internships come and share their experiences. Some of the companies featured in the past were: Macy's Grooveshark, Altria, Nielsen, and Deloitte. This event is open to all business students. -

Becoming a Diplomat
The Diplomats continue to recruit the most committed and motivated business students each year. The organization targets Junior and Senior business students that have a passion for helping other business students and improving the WCBA community. A Diplomat is expected to generate new ideas, participate in various events, and serve as a resource to other students while gaining valuable leadership experiences through the organization.
Diplomats are selected through a competitive application process that consists of a written application, letters of recommendation, and a personal interview. Attending Warrington Diplomat events are a great way to meet current Diplomats and learn first-hand how the organization operates. Recruitment for 2013-2014 Diplomats will be February 18 – March 15, 2013.
Recruitment for new Diplomats will be in Spring 2014.
