Handelshochschule Leipzig (HHL) is a private business school in the German state of Saxony. Also known as the Leipzig Graduate School of Management, it is one of the world's oldest business schools, having been established in 1898. The school has been under private management since 1992. It was ranked as Germany's best business school by karriere magazine in May 2006. In April 2004, the HHL was accredited by the AACSB

The School

The Leipzig Graduate School of Management is a private business school with university status. Internationalism is a fundamental principle of their training and they maintain ties to over 40 schools and universities worldwide. Education is based on intensive dialogue. Small study groups, close contact with faculty and state-of-the-art technology form the basis for productive learning and research. HHL is just a fifteen-minute walk from the city center and the more than 23,000 students from the city's colleges and universities primarily meet there.

The City

Leipzig is a large city in eastern central Germany. Commerce and industry have always played a crucial role within Leipzig's development. And, as a traditional trade fair location, Leipzig continues to attract a great variety of people and activities. Once home to Bach, Goethe and Schiller, Leipzig is ripe with cultural activities and a flourishing arts scene. The city has an extensive bus and metro system and travel is easy to other parts of central Europe.

Courses Available

Various choices in Administration, Economics, Integrated Management, and other elective areas. Take courses from MBA program or Master of Science program. Minimum credits= 15 ECTS (9 UF).

Languages

Predominantly German around town. MBA program is entirely in English; diploma program offers 70% courses in German and 30% in English. A German language course is compulsory for exchange students during the semester if part of the diploma program.

Accommodation

The Leipzig Graduate School of Management (HHL) does not have dorms or university affiliated student residences. There are many apartments and private student residences available at reasonable prices within the city.

Leipzig is the largest city in the federal state of Saxony, Germany. It is situated at the confluence of the Rivers Pleiße, White Elster and Parthe and is only a short train from the cities of Dresden and Berlin. Germany boasts an extensive rail system and eco-friendly car pooling systems which makes travelling both Germany and Europe fun and easy.
