The Gator Corporate Connection
A Word from the Director
Craig W. Petrus
The Fall recruitment season is fast approaching and it is an exciting time here at the Hough Graduate School of Business. We are hoping you will put us on your agenda early this year as you begin to develop your college recruitment strategy. We are excited about the possibilities of connecting you with our very talented students and alumni who are available for your internship roles, leadership development programs, and direct-hire opportunities. With over 1,800 students representing seven different Master Programs, we can partner with you to fill both your entry level positions (our specialty Master candidates) as well as those positions that target more experienced candidates (our MBA talent pool).
We take a very consultative approach to talent acquisition when working with companies such as yours and look forward to partnering with you on a one on one basis to attract the very best talent for your organization from our College. Let us work together to tailor a recruiting program that works best for your organization based upon your available time and resources. We pride ourselves in delivering a valuable “customer experience” for all of our stakeholders and look forward to partnering with you this fall. Go Gators!
A Profile of Our Programs
The best way to create your presence on campus is to get involved! Graduate Business Career Services (GBCS) can customize a program that will help you build your company’s brand and ensure a ready pipeline of graduate business talent to help you meet your strategic college recruitment needs. We look forward to connecting you with our talented students in the following programs: UF MBA Program (Traditional and Part Time Working Professional); Master of Science in Management (MSM); Master of Arts in International Business (MAIB); Master of Science in Real Estate (MSRE); Master of Science in Entrepreneurship (MSE); Master of Science in Finance (MSF); and Master of Science in Information Systems and Operations Management (ISOM) Programs.
In any given year, the Graduate School of Business has approximately 700-800 students enrolled in its full-time MBA and Specialty Masters Programs. Approximately 800 additional students are enrolled in our part-time Working Professional and Executive MBA programs. In addition to our traditional student population, GBCS can also provide you with a direct link to our Alumni when you are seeking candidates for more experienced, higher level roles.
Located in Hough Hall within the Warrington College of Business Administration, we have beautiful state-of-the-art facilities where you can host events, network with our students, or conduct formal on-campus interviews via 17 interview rooms within the building. Our department provides a personable, consultative recruiting experience for employers, as our goal is to build solid, long-lasting recruitment partnerships.
Building an On-Campus Presence
The best way to create your presence on campus is to get involved! GBCS can customize a program that will help you build your company’s brand and ensure a ready pipeline of talent to fill your most important roles.
Your level of engagement is strictly up to you, and can be determined by the unique needs of your business. On the most basic level, you can simply post job opportunities in CareerConnection, our career website for graduate business students, to generate interest and collect resumes of potential candidates as needed. However, if you desire, you can also pre-select candidates and schedule all of your face-to-face interviews here at Hough Hall.
In addition, if you wish to be more proactively involved with our students, we provide a wide range of collaboration opportunities that include:
- Information Sessions
- Career Development Workshops
- Roundtable Luncheons
- Mock Interviews
- Job Shadowing
- Corporate Site Visits
- Recruiting collateral inside the GBCS office
'Virtual School' Relationships
The GBCS makes it easy for you to interview our students at any time. If you cannot make the visit to campus but still want to recruit our students, we have a dedicated space within Hough Hall where you can conduct virtual interviews. We can facilitate videoconference interviews and Skype interviews, or telephone interviews. You can post your positions in advance in CareerConnection, pre-select candidates, and schedule these interviews at your convenience. In addition, we offer another special service that makes this a value-added proposition for our clients: Once all the pre-screening and selection is completed, if you are within driving distance and have selected a group of our students to interview, we may be able to arrange a Corporate Site Visit and bring a group of candidates directly to you to conduct personal interviews at your own location
Opportunities to Mentor Students
Experiential learning opportunities are an integral part of the educational process and we appreciate and value the expertise and experiences that you might be willing to share with our students. Quite often we encourage our students to conduct “Informational Interviews” or “Job Shadow Days” with corporate executives in order for them to learn more about a specific industry and/or career path that is within their scope of interest. We believe this is a tremendous opportunity for the student to not only hear first-hand what a career in your industry is all about, but also to network with a corporate executive in a non-pressure type of environment. Should you have an interest in giving back to our students in this manner, we would love to partner with you to create a valuable experience for them. Please contact our office for further details.

GBCS is separate and apart from the Career Resource Center (CRC), which provides career services to support the entire student population at the University of Florida.
