Official Joint Degrees: MSM paired through an agreement between specific departments (e.g., BSISE/MSM, MSECE/MSM).
Professional Joint Degrees
Please keep in mind this application requires an online application, unlike the other concurrent options.
Professional Joint degrees include students in pursuit of a professional degree (e.g. JD, MD, DDS, DVM, PharmD) along with MSM program. Joint Degree Paperwork must be filled out between the two programs.

Requirements
PERSONAL CHARACTER & PROFESSIONALISM
The applicant's essay, resume, and recommendations provide the best opportunity to convey one's unique background, personality, leadership skills, professionalism, and ability to add to the diversity of the MSM program. Involvement in extracurricular and community activities is also looked upon favorably since it provides additional insight into the interests and social awareness of the applicant. Candidates may be offered the opportunity to complete an admission interview.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
The MSM program does not require professional work experience and the majority of in-program students have little or no post-Bachelor's professional experience. Applicants who do have significant work experience may want to research the UF MBA Programs.
-
Concurrent/Joint Degree Application Notice
Complete the Concurrent/Joint Degree Application Notice to declare your intent to apply for MSM and email (msm at warrington.ufl.edu) it as you begin the application process.
-
Application
Please determine which description applies to your situation.
- If a student has already been admitted to Graduate School at UF and currently enrolled at UF in another graduate degree program, they do NOT need to fill out the online application or pay the $30.00 application fee.
- If the student has already been awarded a graduate degree from UF at a previous time but is no longer enrolled at UF, they must submit a "Readmission Application Form" to the MSM department and they must pay the $30 non-refundable application fee to the University of Florida.
- If the student is applying to graduate school for the first time or new to UF, they DO need to complete the online application to the University of Florida Graduate School. Both UF Graduate Admissions and the MSM Program will have access to your completed application. You will be required to pay a $30 non-refundable application fee to the University of Florida. When selecting your program, please list the Warrington College of Business Administration (BA), major (Management) and degree type Master's (M) on your application. Do not list a specialization since we do not have any "official" specializations. Details are given throughout the process of filing out the application.
-
Statement of Purpose Essay
The essay should be completed as part of the online application or emailed (msm at warrington.ufl.edu) to us. Please emphasize:
- Your motivations for applying to the MSM program
- Why you think you are a good candidate for MSM
- How you would be a good MSM team member
Use the essay as an opportunity to highlight what you think we cannot assess from the other application materials. This is also the place you may wish to clarify or elaborate on something specific within your application package.
-
Resume or Curriculum Vitae (C.V.)
A typical business resume is kept to one page, however, for admissions purposes we encourage applicants to not limit their resume to one page. Since we rarely interview applicants, it is important for us to get a complete picture of each individual to determine if MSM is a good match for them. Please elaborate on duties and responsibilities as well as leadership activities and time commitments outside of the classroom.
Coming in October 2010, there will be capability to add your resume to the online application. Until that time, please email (msm at warrington.ufl.edu) your resume as an attachment.
-
Letters of Recommendation
A minimum of two letters of recommendation: copies of your original letters of recommendation from your other graduate program here at UF (in your file at your current department) are accepted. If you are a recent admit, your letters of recommendation may already be online.
If you must submit new letters of recommendation, your recommenders can scan/email (msm at warrington.ufl.edu) the recommendation. You may also provide them a standard recommendation form that they may use in lieu of, or in addition to, a letter.
-
Official Transcripts
If you are a current or former UF undergraduate student, you do NOT need to send copies of UF transcripts or those transcripts that are included in the UF transcript. Undergraduate transcripts if NOT a UF undergraduate (copies of originals).
Official transcripts from all institutions attended must be sent to:

Official GRE/GMAT Test Scores for Graduate School Admission
Applicants are required to take either the Educational Testing Service (GRE) or Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) exam (if they are not already posted in the UF records system). The test scores must be submitted electronically directly to the University of Florida from the testing organization, to be considered official.
Review the Frequently Asked Questions about the GRE Revised General Test for more information on this delay.
It is in the applicant's best interest to plan ahead in order to prepare for and schedule a test. The test scores are good for five years, so don't hesitate and take it long before you plan to apply. When scheduling the test, keep in mind that you have to wait 30 days before retaking the test. You may want to take the test early enough so that you have the opportunity to retake it if you do not do well.
GRE: UF does not mandate minimum GRE scores. GRE test scores will be used in the context of a holistic credential review process. Below are the test score ranges which are considered good (verbal and quantitative sections). Scores below or above this range are considered weak or excellent, respectively.
- GRE (score before August 1, 2011) = 1100 - 1200
- GRE (score after August 1, 2011) = 302- 308”
Use code: UF: 5812
GMAT: The minimum required score for Graduate School Admissions for the GMAT is a 465. A minimum score of 20 in the verbal section is needed. The score range considered good for the GMAT is 550 – 600. Scores below or above this range are considered weak or excellent, respectively.
Use code: J7Z-5J-64
Above average performance on the subtests of the GRE or GMAT will be looked upon favorably.
- Concurrent Program of Study Plan
- Digital ID Instructions
- TOEFL score, if applicable
Please use the checklist as a reference to complete your Concurrent/Joint application package.
Upon receiving application materials, the MSM office will send one email regarding the status of your file. Further correspondence must be applicant initiated.
Mandatory Orientation
Prior to the beginning of the program, all MSM's are required to participate in a mandatory orientation which is generally held no more than a week before the start of courses. Specific orientation dates are available several months in advance and no excuses are accepted for a lack of attendance. If you are unable to attend orientation, you should defer to the next available start date.
Computer Requirements and Skills
The Hough Graduate School of Business and Warrington College of Business Administration require its students to have unrestricted access to a notebook computer. This is mandatory—no exceptions! Either a PC or Mac notebook will do, however, since the MSM program primarily relies on Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office, anyone bringing a Mac must have that capability. Computers will be used for completing and submitting assignments; communication with faculty, staff, and classmates; statistical analysis; research, and in some cases, tests. Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and Internet software is essential. Specifically, students should know how to use Excel and PowerPoint, and should complete a self-tutorial prior to the program, if necessary. Please see the Computer Requirements for more information.
Questions?
If you still have questions after reviewing all information available and examining the MSM Frequently Asked Questions page, please do not hesitate to email (msm at warrington.ufl.edu) us.
