Certificate Options for MAIB Students
The Hough Graduate School of Business offers certificate programs to all degree-seeking graduate students. Certificate seekers are not earning an official minor or any title that will appear on the formal UF transcript, but rather they have the opportunity to take specified Hough courses to earn a formal Hough certificate that can be highlighted on the resume. The certificate programs are designed to create a specific program of study, through elective and core courses (depending on the degree program), for students who wish to have a specialization within their larger degree program. MAIB students can participate in the following certificate programs:

Certificate in Global Management
The Certificate in Global Management, offered by the Department of Management, requires that students complete 8 on-campus international business credits at the graduate level and at least 4 credits from an international study experience, to include short study tours. Since MAIB students are required to take at least 8 internationally-focused credits (4 courses) at UF through their core courses, the Certificate is awarded to all MAIB students who complete at least 4 credits of foreign study. Since the mandatory Study Tour is included in those required 4 credits, MAIB students only need to complete 2 more credits of study at a foreign institution, or complete an additional study tour during spring break, in order to earn the Certificate in Global Management.
Certificate in New Venture Creation (Entrepreneurship)
The Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEI) in the Warrington College of Business Administration is an active unit offering guest speakers, workshops, a business plan competition, elective courses, and a Certificate in New Venture Creation. If you are interested in following the path that several MAIB alumni have traveled in starting your own business, we encourage you to partake in the activities offered through the CEI. Entrepreneurship and international knowledge and experiences are a natural pairing for students who are creative, motivated, and driven by a desire to take risks. The Certificate in New Venture Creation requires students to take 4 courses, for a total of 8 credits. Two of the courses are required: Gator Nest Consulting Project and either Entrepreneurship (fall term) or Global Entrepreneurship (spring term). The other two courses can be selected from a variety of entrepreneurship and new venture offerings. All courses taken count as MAIB elective as a part of the 30 required credits.
Certificate in Tourism and Hospitality Business Management
The hospitality industry is a fast-growing and very global industry that seeks to hire seasoned professionals for upper-level managerial positions. Through the coursework offered through Hough's Certificate in Tourism and Hospitality Management, students will gain necessary knowledge for a career within the hotel, theme park, casino, cruise line, and vacation/tourism industries. To earn this Certificate, MAIB students must take a total of 10 credits (5 courses), and it is possible for the requirements to be completed in the fall term to allow for a spring term study abroad.
Certificate in Supply Chain Management
The Supply Chain Management certificate provides graduate business students with a unique educational opportunity to integrate topics from operations management, information systems, marketing and strategic management related to complex supply chain management systems. On completion of the certificate, students usually are recruited by top consulting firms with ERP/supply chain practices or by the larger corporations (Ford CSX, etc.) which need experts to address problems in a large-scale supply chain.
To earn the certificate, students must complete the 12 credits required courses that can count as MAIB electives.
