Council Holds Second General Meeting and Ben & Jerry's Fundraiser

FSOA Council had an opportunity to assist the Climb For Cancer Tennis Tournament benefiting UF Shands Cancer Center and the UF College of Medicine Pediatric Oncology Division. (1/09)

Council Plays Intramural Sports

This semester the Fisher School of Accounting Council is involved in three intramural sports, compared to last semester (which was FSOAC's first time participating) where the council members participated only in the competitive flag football league. (1/09)

FSOAC Participates in Business Bash

More than 20 business organizations, the MAIB program, Study Abroad services, and Warrington advisors participated in a bash to help students get the most out of their UF experience. (1/09)

Council members traveled to sunny Orlando, Florida where they met with various professionals from Grant Thornton's Orlando practice, followed by a visit to Amway Arena to meet with Jeff Bissey, controller of the Orlando Magic. (11/08)

As the Florida Gators took a weekend off to prepare for the Tennessee Volunteers, the Fisher School of Accounting Council took on its own volunteering at the St. Francis House. (9/08)

End of the Year Barbeque

Council sponsored an end of the year barbeque on the Babicz Terrace for all accounting students and faculty members as the last event of the semester. (4/08)

John Haven and Linda McGurn Discuss Employment Opportunities Beyond Public Accounting

Special guests John Haven and Linda McGurn, prominent Fisher School of Accounting alumni, were invited to the fourth meeting on April 16th to speak about alternative careers that are available to accounting students outside the traditional roles of public accounting. (4/08)

Italian Quarter Social and Fundraiser

Organized as a joint fundraiser and social event, thirty FSOAC members gathered at Italian Quarter Restaurant on April 11th to eat, socialize, and earn money for the organization. (4/08)

Relay for Life

Twenty-five FSOAC members participated in UF's Relay for Life fundraiser on March 28th, raising over $1,000 to support the American Cancer Society in the fight against Cancer. (3/08)

Miami Trip

Members went to Miami for this year's Spring trip. The purpose of the trip was to expose members to public accounting firms and get a chance to network with professionals in the field. (3/08)

Presentation on Professional Etiquette

A special presentation on professional etiquette was sponsored by the Southeastern firm of Cherry, Bekaert & Holland L.L.P. (2/08)

Meals Prepared for St. Francis House

Meals were prepared by Council members in a visit to the St. Francis House in Gainesville. This event is the first of three community service events Council will host during the Spring 2008 semester. (2/08)

Donation Drive to Help Fight Cancer

A Donation Drive was hosted by the FSOAC in the lobby of Gerson Hall. The Council raised over $200 from the Drive. All proceeds go to help support the American Cancer Society in the fight against Cancer. (2/08)

Karaoke Night

Members sang karaoke in an organized social event hosted by the Council at the TGIF restaurant. This was one of the many social events that the Council will host during the Spring 2008 semester. (2/08)

Swamp Social

The Swamp Social was hosted by Dr. McGill and the FSOAC. The Swamp Social is where students are able to meet professors on a more personal level rather than a classroom setting. (1/08)
