Fisher School of Accounting Alumna Joelen Merkel (BSAC ’73) was recently honored with the Education Foundation of Palm Beach County Distinguished Alumni Award (Business/Legal category). This award was created to honor distinguished alumni and/or former students who are noted in their field of endeavor or recognized for their expertise and good works by their peers and others.

Alumnus Danny Simon

Kubs Lalchandani and Danny Simon (MACC '03), two former big-firm litigators noted for their experience representing some of the nation's largest corporations, today announced they have joined forces to establish Lalchandani Simon, a Florida law firm that focuses on social media law, healthcare compliance, intellectual property, electronic information, business planning, and litigation and appeals. Alumnus Nick Reader

BSAC, '97, CEO of MVP Holdings

Alumnus Nick Reader, CEO of MVP Holdings, along with Outback Steakhouse co-founder, Bob Basham, launched PDQ in Tampa. PDQ, short for “pretty darned quick,” is a new fast-food chain specializing in food made from scratch. (11/11)

Alumna Lillian Mills

MACC, '81, Chair of Accounting Department at University of Texas

Fisher School of Accounting Alumna Lillian Mills was appointed chair of the department of accounting at the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas. She holds the Wilton E. and Catherine A. Thomas chair in accounting at the university. (10/11)

Alumnus Gary Previts

PHD '72

Dr. Gary Previts became the fourth person affiliated with the Fisher School of Accounting to be inducted into the Accounting Hall of Fame (J. Michael Cook, 1999; Joel Demski, 2000; Robert R. Sterling, 2006). There were many important stops on Dr. Previts' road to a sterling academic career. Proudly, one of those stops was right here at the Fisher School of Accounting where Dr. Previts earned his Ph.D. in 1972. (9/11)

Integrated Freight Corporation has appointed Alumnus Matthew Veal as Vice President and Treasurer. Mr. Veal is a seasoned financial professional with over twenty years of experience in leadership positions in public and private companies. Most recently, he served as Chief Financial Officer and Secretary of Sunovia Energy Technologies, Inc. from its inception in 2004. (8/11)

Alumnus Will Frazer

BSAC '80, Buchholz Math Teacher

After making his fortune on Wall Street by the age of 27, FSOA Alumnus Will Frazer was looking for more, and he found it as an inspirational high school math teacher. Frazer recently led the Buchholz High School math team to win their fifth consecutive Mu Alpha Theta national math title. Mu Alpha Theta is a national mathematics honors society. (7/11)

Alumnus Keith Robinson's "Gator Nation" Class Visits UF

Fisher School of Accounting alumnus Keith Robinson graduated from UF in 2006 with his Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Master of Accounting. After graduation, instead of the traditional public accounting career path, he decided to participate in the Teach for America program. (3/10)
