Program Overview

The emphasis of the Department of Economics graduate program is the Ph.D. The major goal of the department is to prepare students for teaching and research positions in colleges and universities, in government service, in research institutions, and in business and other private organizations.

The program emphasizes the development of research skills. Students actively engage in research at an early stage in their studies. When it comes time to interview for jobs, our students are well-prepared to present seminars and often have already published in professional economics journals.
