Business in Brazil

The Business in Brazil four-week summer program takes place in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, combining coursework on Brazilian business practices, site visits to companies, training in Brazilian Portuguese and immersion in Brazilian culture. Given the specialized and intensive nature of Business in Brazil, it draws participation from a national pool of students.

International Financial Markets Tour

The tour combines classroom instruction with a week-long visit to financial institutions in Argentina during spring break 2010. This UF program is designed to accommodate both business and non-business graduate students, enhancing the richness of perspective both in the classroom and on the tour. Participating students represented a variety of UF graduate programs including MBA, MAIB (Master of Arts in International Business), MSF (Master of Science in Finance) and MALAS (Master of Arts in Latin American Studies).

Italian Food - From Production to Policy

A new short-term study abroad for agriculture, business and European Studies undergraduate students was developed through joint cooperation of CIBER and the Institute for Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS), Italian Food—From Production to Policy. The program travels around agricultural regions of Italy and focuses on three major themes: 1) variation in the production/marketing systems of key Italian agricultural products and their associated value-added industries that included citrus, olives-olive oil, parmesan cheese, and vineyards-wineries, 2) how European agriculture operates in an environment that differs from that found in the United States and 3) implications of the first two themes for US food exports to Europe and European exports to the United States.

Research Opportunities in Africa: Research Tutorials Abroad

In a new program offered by CIBER, students may spend two to four weeks in Africa working with faculty researching and collecting data. Faculty members must initiate research projects by submitting proposals to CIBER, and they also organize all aspects of the trip, including accommodations; the call for proposals is usually posted in November. Winning projects receive funding to cover faculty and student costs. All proposals must support CIBER's mission—to enhance the competitiveness of U.S. firms abroad. Relevant projects may examine a particular national product market, fundamentals of a nation's economy, ethnographic characteristics that affect product usage, or language and cultural constraints that affect competitiveness. Interested students should contact CIBER.
