Participants studied reform, regulatory mechanisms, rate design and conducting price reviews during sessions taught by Dr. Paul Sotkiewicz in Cape Town.
Sponsored by the Graduate School of Business at the University of Cape Town in cooperation with the African Forum for Utility Regulators (AFUR), the Regional Electricity Regulators Association (RERA) and PURC.
In attendance were 30 utility professionals from 9 nations. PURC Director of Energy Studies Paul Sotkiewicz was invited to serve as a faculty member at the course and develop course materials, including strategic case studies. His contribution continues a cooperative effort, begun in 2001, between PURC and the University of Cape Town to provide regulatory capacity building on the African continent.
