PURC/CLA Executive Development Series for Utility Commissioners: Providing Leadership in Utility Policy
June 17, 2007
Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
Utility commissioners studied adaptive leadership by examining case studies in adaptive challenges in regulation. They explored models of adaptive leadership, engaged in dialogue about the knowledge and skills necessary for exercising leadership in regulation, and discovered new tools, resources and paradigms for facing what many see as insurmountable challenges.
To help consolidate learning, the workshop included discussions of regulators' current situations, case in point analysis of the leadership challenges the issues represent, explanations of leadership models, and debriefing and reflection on the lessons that emerge from the dialogue. In the context of the substantive discussion, participants explored leadership questions and discovered new tools, resources and paradigms for facing what many see as insurmountable challenges.
