Fisher graduate begins exclusive internship program

Cassidy Kallner (BSAc ’15, MAcc ’15) was one of only six students in the nation to be selected for a yearlong postgraduate technical assistant program with the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), the premier institution that establishes financial accounting standards for business in the United States. Two Fisher grads winners of the 2014 Elijah Watt Sells Award

Fisher grads Kenneth Wilbur (BSAc '14, MAcc '14) and Robert Waldbillig (BSAc '13) are winners of the 2014 Elijah Watt Sells Award. The award is bestowed upon candidates who have obtained a cumulative average score above 95.50 across all four sections of the Uniform CPA Examination, passed all four sections of the Examination on their first attempt and completed testing in 2014. A total of 91,384 individuals sat for the Examination in 2014, with 60 candidates meeting the criteria to receive the Elijah Watt Sells Award. (3/31)

Fisher School mourns loss of loyal alumnus

Luciano Prida Sr., a devoted alumnus and supporter of the Fisher School of Accounting, passed away Saturday. He was 90 years old. “We are very proud that Luciano Prida Sr., was an alumnus of the University of Florida’s Fisher School of Accounting,” said Dr. Gary McGill, Associate Dean and Director of the Fisher School. “His dedicated service to the community and the accounting profession represents the very best of our ideals.” (1/5)

Alumna Dara Simon named Partner

Dara Simon (BSAc ’94) was admitted to Cherry Bekaert’s Partner group effective November 1, 2014. Currently serving as Campus Lead for the University of Florida’s campus recruiting team, Dara is also on the Fisher School of Accounting Advisory Board. (11/18)

FSOA mourns the loss of long-time Advisory Board member James Lang

Alumnus and former Fisher School of Accounting Advisory Board member James T. Lang passed away September 20, 2012, at the age of 90. Jim graduated from the University of Florida (BSBA, Accounting) in 1942. He was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. (10/30)

Michael Donohoe Wins Two Awards at ATA Luncheon in Washington DC

Bob Lowe Appears on Fox Business News to Discuss Key Survey Findings

Robert (Bob) Lowe (BSAC '80; MACC '81) recently appeared on Fox Business News to discuss key findings from Alvarez & Marsal's CFO Matters: Tax Perspectives survey. During the interview, he highlighted important findings from U.S. multinational CFOs on topics such as Tax Priorities, Tax Rates, and State Competitiveness. (7/12)

Alumnus Gary Previts

Dr. Gary Previts became the fourth person affiliated with the Fisher School of Accounting to be inducted into the Accounting Hall of Fame (J. Michael Cook, 1999; Joel Demski, 2000; Robert R. Sterling, 2006). There were many important stops on Dr. Previts' road to a sterling academic career. Proudly, one of those stops was right here at the Fisher School of Accounting where Dr. Previts earned his Ph.D. in 1972. (9/11)

After making his fortune on Wall Street by the age of 27, FSOA Alumnus Will Frazer was looking for more, and he found it as an inspirational high school math teacher.
