Healthcare is an issue that touches every American. With an aging population and rising health care costs, there is currently a dire need for increased efficiencies and improved quality. The University of Florida combines the expertise of three of its top-rated colleges to offer interdisciplinary programs that address the needs of healthcare professionals who seek to advance in administrative positions in the healthcare industry. With courses offered cooperatively by the Warrington College of Business Administration and the College of Public Health and Health Professions, and the Warrington College together with the College of Pharmacy, individuals with no business background can now obtain the specialized education they need to move their careers forward in two crucial areas: Geriatric Care Management and Health Care Risk Management. These programs are designed for working professionals who wish to remain employed while simultaneously working on a Master's degree.

The Master of Science in Management degree with a Concentration in Geriatric Care Management seeks to build on this strong foundation of research and innovation to prepare working professionals to excel and advance their career in the management of geriatric services. The program is designed to provide students with an in depth view of geriatric care management services and the fundamental economic, financial and organizational business knowledge necessary to successfully manage such services.
The University of Florida is the first major university to partner with a professional association (National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers) to develop an educational experience for those seeking to develop their own private practice or pursue other entrepreneurial endeavors. This program is also designed to enhance career opportunities for those seeking executive leadership positions across the spectrum of aging services including: acute care hospitals, long-term care facilities, home health, managed care and public advocacy organizations.
The curriculum is comprised of ten required courses, including six business courses and four GCM courses, which provide students with an understanding of business fundamentals with a special emphasis on aging services and geriatric care management. The program is designed for individuals with a non-business undergraduate degree.
