International Program Components

Study Tour

Students are required to participate in this brief but intensive international immersion experience. Through lectures and visits to businesses and governmental units, students will gain an understanding of the country's business environment and how it has been influenced by political, cultural, and historical factors. Students earn two credits for the Study Tour, which is taken between the two fall modules in mid-October. The 2009 Study Tour location will again be in Budapest, Hungary from October 17-23rd . You can view the "typical" itinerary by looking at the 2008 itinerary below. The Study Tour is a mandatory experience for all MAIB students. Only international students with verifiable visa problems might be exempt. In any given year, there may be a different city option. For example, in 2008, some MAIB students went to Dublin, Ireland with the Entrepreneurship program and Russia with the MBA program. Alternative options will be announced to admitted students in the May/June time period.

Foreign University Study

After completion of the fall term, students are permitted to earn MAIB elective credit from an exchange or study abroad program. Students can study abroad for as short a period of time as 2 weeks or as long a period of time as 7 months. Students going abroad for a very short period of time would also need to gain additional credit through UF MAIB courses to meet program requirements. Please see the "application letter" on the admissions web page for more details. Most programs offer courses in English, or, if the individual's language skills so warrant, courses may be taken in other languages. The modular design of the program further facilitates study abroad possibilities, since classes on campus last only half the length of a regular semester. Students who study abroad are able to select from a variety of business or related (international affairs, law, and more) courses, and selection depends on where students go to study. This enables students to tailor the MAIB program to a specific area of interest.
